The Way I See It...

I was reading the side of my Starbucks coffee cup yesterday morning and I thought I would post the blurb here. I thought it was a very true observation and interesting quote...

The Way I See It #267

"Music can lift us out of depression or move us to tears - it is a remedy, a tonic, orange juice for the ear. But for many of my neurological patients, music is even more...it can provide access, even when no medication can, to movement, to speech, to life. For them, music is not a luxury, but a necessity."

~Oliver Sacks (neurologist and author of, "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" and "Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain")

This quote reminds me of how much I think we all as humans enjoy music in some form or fashion throughout our lives. It's like a way of communicating to our souls. I have read some passages before in some Christian inspirational books (can't remember titles or authors at this moment) about the idea of music and singing being a predominant form of communication, praise and honor in God's Heavenly kingdom some day. I do not know what being in God's presence will ultimately be like one day, but it is interesting to think about how if we are made in God's image, then there must be a reason we, as humans, are very respondent to music. The Bible talks about us singing songs of praises to our Lord, now and in Heaven. So, God must have created the idea of music and the innate desire for our souls to "sing a song" as part of our reflection of Him! What is it exactly about music that we are all drawn to? The words, the melodies and sounds, the feelings that music evokes in us when listening to it, the memories that are time-stamped for us in our minds by a particular song, etc? Hmmmm.....just something to think about...:o)

Williams Zoo Crew Montage...

Last night I discovered this other awesome web site that allows you to make movies, slideshows, DVD's, etc. using your own pictures for free! You can also add music, as well as use different fonts, colors, backgrounds, etc. I went ahead and made a small montage of some of our best Williams Zoo Crew pictures. You can join the website and upgrade your membership for $3.99 a month, which will entitle you to all of their premium services, such as colorful backgrounds, fonts, designs, etc. But, I decided for right now to make my own version for free. So, it is pretty basic in its appearance, but still fun to watch! Enjoy our first family montage created by me! Check out their website too @ onetruemedia.com

A little too much caffeine late at night and...

OK, so there is this contest being hosted by Nick Lachey on his myspace page for fans. He asked that fans send him their favorite pics of him or him & Jessica and to tell why they like the pictures. If he likes them, he'll put you on his Top 40 Friends list on his myspace page (it's a myspace thing, so you may not quite understand the significance of this sort of thing). Well, as some of you already know, I am a huge Nick & Jess fan...yes, even though they are divorced. I still love all the old pics of them and their Newlywed series that used to air on TV! I also had too much caffeine late last night after getting home from work. So, I decided to play around with Photobucket and ended up creating a cool slideshow with some music. It's got some of my personal favorite pictures of Nick & Jess and I added some comments or titles to each one. Enjoy this hokey little project of mine for what it is...a cheesy attempt to be in the Top 40 Friends list on Nick's Music page for fans on myspace.

P.S.- I made it in the Top 16!!! LOL
