Rest In Peace & Good Health, Nanny

This is a short entry today, but I wanted to share the news that my grandmother passed away this afternoon in Orlando. She was 83 and although we all knew her time was quickly coming to an end, I am thankful we all as a family got to say our goodbyes and pay her lots of visits recently while she was in and out of hospitals and nursing homes and such. I will share a new entry in a few days with some highlights of things I am thankful for about my grandmother and how she impacted my life. I just wanted to post this latest news for those who happen to read my blog.

Her name was Nancy Jordan Eshenaur and she was my mom's mother.

Flashback to the 1980's...again!!

I was watching the CMA's (Country Music Awards) tonight and I heard Sugarland perform the 1980's song, "Life in a Northern Town", on stage. I remember loving that song from the 80's, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out who sang it? My mind was drawing a complete blank! So, I looked it up later and found out it was The Dream Academy. How could I forget that? Well, while looking up the song to add onto my playlist, I found out a few other classic songs from the 80's that The Dream Academy also was responsible for that I never even knew! I guess you really do learn something new everyday! So, for now I am featuring a few of their 80's songs on my playlist on this page.

Can you guess the name of the movie that two of the songs on my playlist came from? LOL...

If you said that the first song playing is from the movie, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", then you guessed it! It's during that famous scene where Ferris and his friends are touring the art museum (see picture above). The third song on my playlist, "Edge of Forever", is also from that same movie! Let's hear it for the 80's !!!

Precious Moments...

I just had to post this blurb about something so precious that I saw tonight! I had taken the kids out to eat dinner at Friendly's since Daddy was enjoying a night at his friend's house for the newest Battlestar Galactica episode. I was sitting in a booth next to Amanda and after we said our prayer before eating dinner, she said to me..."Mommy, I am going to also pray that God will help me be good and not get into trouble". As I sat there a little dumbfounded and caught off guard, she suddenly bowed her head by herself and closed her little eyes. Then I saw her whispering the words to herself while her hands were delicately folded in the praying position..."God, help me to be good and not get into trouble", or something to that effect. It was the most precious thing I think I have seen her do. And let me tell you that Amanda does so many adorable and precious things all the time! What surprised me the most was that out of all three of our kids, she is usually the best behaved one and is the last person to actually get into trouble. Truly, it's the older two children who typically end up getting scolded or punished. Amanda is rarely EVER a behavior problem for us. So, to hear her pray those precious words to the Lord just really touched my heart. Scott and I had told the kids before he left to go to his buddy's house to please behave for mommy. That must be why she felt the need to pray for help in being good while we were out to dinner. Like I said, it's not really like she even needs any help with behaving anyway. But, it was so touching to see her innocent little face and heart utter those sincere words in prayer to God. May we all be this child-like in our hearts when we pray to God!
